The under-18 team of Young Bafana Soccer Academy team has qualified for the prestigious Bayhill Premier Cup, which will see the local lads vie for the title against some of the country’s top teams.
The team’s path to qualification was not easy, as they had to overcome numerous obstacles on their way to the main tournament.
A late start and numerous administrative setbacks did not deter them, as they tenaciously fought through the qualifying rounds to enter the final round-robin play-offs, where they remained unbeaten to advance to the main tournament later this year.
This is a commendable performance and coach Justin Noble, the assistant coaches and players have done exceptionally well to qualify with a newly formed team.
But the work doesn’t stop there; Young Bafana will lock horns with the cream of the crop during the tourney, so Noble and his team will be hard at work preparing for the big event, where talent scouts from senior leagues will be present to witness the country’s best talent in action.
For the players, featuring in the Bayhill tournament will be another great opportunity on their journey to becoming professional footballers.
