Returning champion Jimmy Bonjesi was the first participant in the Men’s Open category to cross the finish line of the Kia False Bay 50 km Ultra Marathon, the iconic point-to-point road race, which took place from Kleinmond to Gordon’s Bay along the scenic coastal R44 last Sunday (7 May). The event was hosted by Strand Athletics Club (SAC) with assistance of Hangklip Athletics Club, and sponsored by the multinational automobile manufacturer, Kia which ably aided in the logistical components of the race (“False Bay road race returns,” DistrictMail & Helderberg Gazette, 3 May).
