Somerset West: The Palaeontology Group meets in the activity room at Heritage Manor in Hazelden Drive at 14:00. The meeting kicks off with the next and final part of the introduction of Geology, a documentary featuring the volcanic eruption of Mount St Helens. There will be a 15-minute tea-and-coffee break at 15:00 before participants embark on the Cretaceous Period. A BBC documentary on dinosaurs will be shown from 16:00 to 17:00. Stellenbosch: Lace-up and hit the single-track trails at Muratie Wine Estate from 08:00. The eighth Mid-Year Trail Run takes place as part of the Sportsmans Warehouse Trail Run Series by Dirtopia with two route options – a 11 km challenge at 08:45 and 6 km run at 09:00. Both routes include forest trails, wine land views and vineyard sections, giving runners an outdoor adventure they won’t forget. There will be refreshment stations on route and at the finish line, where runners can also collect the finisher’s medal. Prizes for the winners and lucky draws include Sportsmans Warehouse vouchers with a total value of R2 000, Falke socks and Muratie’s top wines. The event is succeeded by the Muratie Mountain Series on Sunday 30 July from 07:30 to 16:00. Avid intermediate to advanced riders can saddle up for the 52 km challenge with a 1 550 m elevation.
