All Saints RFC romped to a 47-7 victory over Kylemore RFC in a Super League B clash at Helderzicht Sports Grounds in Somerset West on Saturday 12 August to cement third place on the log standings with just one game to go.
All Saints dominated from the get-go, scoring seven tries in perfect playing conditions to outclass their opponents in front of a jubilant home crowd. Tries were scored by Gerston Alkaster, Ashton Fingers, Nathan Jacobs, Jeraldo Jacobs, Duwayne Raubenheimer and Aiden Januarie (2). Marco Anderson kicked six conversions over the poles to secure a dominant and important victory ahead of their final clash of the league season when they face log leaders SK Walmers in Green Point on Saturday 26 August.
Meanwhile, fellow Super League B outfit Strand RC were on the receiving end of a bullish performance when they failed to get any points on the scoreboard by going down 27-0 to Hands and Heart RFC at Gustrouw.
With three games still in hand, Strand RC are now seventh on the log and have plenty to play for when they meet SK Walmers away in their biggest test yet, scheduled to take place this weekend (19 August).
In Super League C, Macassar RFC earned a 16-3 away victory against Morningstar RFC, but were disappointed at potentially losing out on a second place finish after they failed to get a bonus-point win. Tries by Breyton Kleyn and Cheslyn Cyster, and penalties by Heinrich Koekman and Bradley Daniels secured the victory but just fell short of what they had aimed for.
The MC Boys can still finish second if Goodwood RFC proved victorious over Van der Stel Evergreens this weekend. Macassar’s final game of the season is this weekend when they face Rangers RFC at home.
In the promotion league, Sir Lowrians RFC continue to display good form and a desire for promotion after a hard fought 10-6 victory over Young Wesleys, courtesy of a try by Clayton Wagenstroom, supported by Randy Brinkhuis who kicked a conversion as well as a penalty.
After three games and three wins, Sir Lowrians sit right at the top of the Top 9 promotion league log, and will face Elsies River away this weekend.
Fellow Top 9 contenders Strand United suffered a last minute defeat when they lost to Gardens RFC by 13-17.
Gardens were reduced to 14 men and managed to over turn a 10-3 score to 13-17 in the final four minutes of the match.
On the United scoresheet was Wesley Josephs with a try and Ebrahim Pedro with two penalties and a conversion. Strand United now prepare to host Titans RFC this weekend.
In the Pool B fixtures, Gordon’s Bay Pioneers impressed with a 45-28 victory over Peninsula RFC. Try scorers included Bradley Williams (2), Germaine Simon, Craig Hendricks, Albert Jean van Tonder, Keanen Kleinsmith, Gerald Otto and Rhicus Jansen van Rensburg. Van Rensburg and Justin Daniels kicked a conversion each. GB Pioneers will face Young Stars RFC this weekend at home.
Other fixtures for Saturday 19 August include:
Super League A: St Georges vs Maties (home) and Helderberg vs Union Milnerton (away).
