Raaid Fajandar and Michael Shepstone competed in the Future Engineers category, the most advanced category for roboteers. The challenge is to build a robot from scratch with a steering drive that moves around a track autonomously. It needs to be programmed with AI to assess the course before circumventing, making decisions and avoiding obstacles. They used Arduino Microcontroller and 3 Raspberry Picos to drive a colour sensor, four time-of-flight sensors, an ultrasonic sensor, a servo, DRV8833 motor driver and lidar sensor, and clinched first place.
Johan Benade (international head judge), Michael Shepstone, Cody Williams (coach), Raaid Fajandar and Hansell Williams (provincial judge).
