The first leg of the sterilisation campaign took place from Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 November and the second will take place in December, with the aim of sterilising 1 000 animals.

Help a Paw has partnered with Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) to undertake a mass-sterilisation campaign in the Helderberg area around Somerset West.

This partnership aims to address and prevent the issue of overpopulation, which leads to increased stray animals. It comes with an added risk of the spread of diseases such as rabies.

Help a Paw is renowned for its role in animal welfare, specialising in population control, sterilising and feeding animals in impoverished communities. They prioritise communities where most do not have access to transport, especially not one that can take their dogs and cats to the vet, as well as rescue animals in distress.

Help a Paw recently partnered with RDM to use its facilities during a three-day sterilisation campaign.

RDM saw this as an excellent opportunity to give back to the community and raise awareness of the importance of caring for our four-legged friends.

Offering a central location accessible to Macassar, Deep Freeze and greater Helderdeberg, RDM opened its doors to Help a Paw to set up a sterilisation Centre at the RDM clubhouse.

The first leg of the campaign took place from Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 November and the second will take place in December, which aims to see 1 000 animals sterilised in the Firgrove, Sandvlei, Deep Freeze and Macassar areas.

By combining resources and expertise this partnership between RDM and Help a Paw is bound to live a lasting commitment from pet owners to providing responsible care and improve animal health.
