The 2023 Helderberg Society for the Aged (HSFA) Busamed Golf Day, held on the picturesque course of the Strand Golf Club on Friday 10 November, was not just a fantastic day in the sun but a triumphant fundraising effort that significantly impacts the lives of the elderly under the care of the Somerset West organisation.

With all sponsored holes filled and 120 enthusiastic golfers enjoying a friendly game of golf for a worthy cause, the day proved to be a remarkable success. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the HSFA staff leading up to the event as well as on the day ensuring its seamless execution, making the HSFA fundraiser a resounding accomplishment.

The HSFA extended its heartfelt gratitude to the generous sponsors and supporters of the golf day, namely title sponsor Busamed Paardevlei Private Hospital, dinner sponsor Timbuild Group and corporate sponsors Adviceworx, Geratec, Nashua Winelands and Immploy Recruitment Agency.

A full complement of four-ball teams competed on the golf course, all aiming for the fabulous prizes given out at the end of the day. Several of the holes were manned and branded by keen corporate sponsors, including BCL Medical Waste Management, Careserv, Classic Bathrooms, Converge Solutions, Custom Designs, Evergreen Office National, Geratec, Hearing Aid Labs, Helderberg Hospice, HP Roofing and Waterproofing, Immploy Recruitment Agency, LabourNet, Laminin Paints Western Cape, Malan Lourens Viljoen, Mats Carpets, Old Mutual Private Clients, Pierre Volschenk Painters, Procon Electrical, Schmidhauser, Stephen Jones Roofing, Standard Bank, Helderberg Stroke Support Group and Xone Integrated Security.

The HSFA expressed profound gratitude to the community and numerous companies and individuals for their unwavering support through donations, auction items, prizes and participation in the golf teams. “Your generosity has made a significant difference, and for that, we extend our sincere thanks. Special thanks goes to Theo Rix, who served as our prize-giving master of ceremonies, and HelderbergFM, which broadcasted from the event at Strand Golf Club on the day,” stated a press release.

Looking ahead, the HSFA is excited to announce plans for another golf day next year. A Save the Date is extended to locals for Friday 11 October 2024, as the organisation aims to continue this tradition of success and support.
