The Hot Summer of Touch (HSOT) series 2023 had the perfect start on Sunday 3 December in Kleinmond with beautiful weather as 32 teams gathered for the opening of the beach touch rugby season.

The action on the soft Kleinmond sand was exhilarating and energy sapping and the event was well supported by hordes of fans.

The final of the Pro Series was contested by two newly promoted teams with the Most Wanted boys taking their first title overcoming the Liberty Webb Touchies. It is clear these two Helderberg teams are likely to fight many more battles on the series this year. The Challenger series was won by Kia Targo, who overcame The Underdogs Touchies in a very closely contested final.

The Struisbaai Warriors defeated the Houdings in what was a very hard-fought Open Series and the Score Forward Legends juniors were too strong for the Struisbaai Warriors juniors in the junior section.

“A special thanks to the people and municipality of Kleinmond, who go out of their way to make us feel so welcome – it is a real honour to work with you,” the organisers said in a statement.

The action moves to Camps Bay this Sunday (10 December), and with the addition of a ladies’ section to look forward to it is going to be a cracker.
