You see them dressed in their finest attire, ready to go out to their religious services and ceremonies. If they encounter you in the hallway or in the parking area they smile and always say something nice to you, endearing them to you. You respond by joining in the fray of niceties, as is expected of you in a civilised society.
Then they return home from their religious excursion, still all smiles, with blessings and praise for whomever they meet, the revered black book or religious pamphlet firmly in hand to open a verse or chapter if they just get the slightest hint that you are open to their “teachings”.
To keep up the charade of holiness to the outside world they boast about their involvement in charity work, participation in as many public activities as possible, “serving” their fellow human being.
But the moment they close their front doors their true colours and self-serving tendencies shine bright, tearing those they have just met apart with angry words and gestures, albeit privately and not within the earshot of those they bad-mouth! Their prayers for mercy and the strength to serve their “master’s teachings” are all forgotten!
How is it possible for anyone to practise religion so openly, but then away from all the religious sites they regard their fellow beings with such disdain, and are ruthless, nasty back-stabbers only serving their own interest?
