Strand police are investigating a case of murder after a 26-year-old man was fatally attacked on Friday (12 April).
According to Warrant Officer Nico Beukes, spokesperson for Strand police, the victim died after he was allegedly attacked by a group of unknown suspects, which remain at large.
“The on-duty officer received a complaint at 22:26 and proceeded to the address in Brown Crescent, Strand,” he said. “On their arrival the officer spotted a group of people standing in front of the gate outside the property, while others stood in the yard.”
Soon after this the officer discovered the victim with blood on his jacket and there was blood at the back door.
Beukes said a witness told police the suspects arrived and went into the deceased’s bedroom, where they apparently assaulted him with a sjambok, pangas and a screwdriver, and dragged him out of the house while still hitting him.
“The victim had four stab wounds on his head and one above his left eye,” said Beukes.
The victim was declared dead on the scene and his body transported to Tygerberg Mortuary. Strand police urged anyone with additional information that could lead to an arrest to contact the station on 021 854 9100.
