Cyclists of Nomzamo-based Blue Sky Development Cycling Academy were proud to have participated in their first Western Province Team Time Trial (TTT) at the Slent Road TTT, which was hosted at Klipheuwel, near Durbanville, on Sunday 14 April.
The cyclists were given the opportunity to test their legs before the start of the Winter Road League, and practised their ability to ride as a group as they entered an under-19 and under-17 team into the 60 km TTT, and tackled the circuit twice.
“It was another stepping stone to success for the club,” coach Luthando Funani stated, adding it was made possible through the generous donations from sponsors.
“We extend a word of appreciation to all those who helped make this happen for the academy. Thanks to Firlands Service Station, The Graham Power Charity Trust and Unashamedly Ethical, who all helped contribute towards our entries and provisions for the event. I was overwhelmed with emotion to see the boys given these opportunities, as it was a debut event for many of them. The smiles on their faces said it all and they learnt a lot in a short period of time. Let’s keep cycling.”
