Three learners of Khanyolwethu Secondary School in Lwandle will represent the Western Cape as Team Green Eco in the final of the 2024 Green Opportunities Challenge. They are (from left) Lwazi Mashoba, Chuma Magoda and Atlehang Likotsi. The competition, presented by the South Africa Climate Change Champs, was open to youths in Grades 9 to 12 who were part of the Climate Club, which hosts schools across the Eastern, Northern and Western Cape. The finalists were selected from more than 40 youth groups which entered the competition and presented a pitch on powering their community through a just and resilient transition to a green economy. Projects were presented across key green economy sectors. These climate-change champions are preparing to pitch to a panel of judges at the national finals in Cape Town.
