The Strand Community Policing Forum (CPF) acknowledged the outstanding police work of local officers during an event last Thursday (23 May).
Several members of Strand police were awarded certificates of achievement during the event that recognised outstanding work.
“Thank you, not anyone can do this job, and you put your lives on the front line every single day,” said Strand CPF chairperson, Jannie Frieslaar. “You do this work with your heart and enjoy it. Our communities need you. We acknowledge your contribution to keeping us safe, and we hope to do it more regularly. You are outstanding and we wish you well going forward.”
Strand CPF secretary Johan Pick added that recognition is key to strengthening the relationship between the forum and police. “We are very thankful for the excellent police work carried out by the police officers of Strand Police Station, and we acknowledge the commitment to working towards a safer community.”
Strand Police Station commander Colonel Khunjulwa Khanyile shared her overwhelming sense of gratitude and humility at the acknowledgement by the CPF. “Our successes are possible only when we work together with the community, which we call partnership policing. The CPF is our shield, and without them we have no access to the community. We are very humbled to be acknowledged in this way.”
Fundile Nabe, senior administrative officer at the provincial Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety, said the strong partnership between the CPF and Strand police is evident. “This shows appreciation and commitment from both sides. Keep up the good work,” he urged.
