Two young entrepreneurs and avid golfers, Schalk Botha (25) and Shaun Styger (25), have made a hole-in-one with the launch of their new golf simulator business, Fore & Fine, located at Firgrove Business Park in Somerset West.
Childhood friends with a shared passion for the sport Schalk and Shaun decided to combine their entrepreneurial spirits and golf expertise to create a unique and exciting venture. Both have a background in business, and when the idea to open a golf-simulator business was ignited in Styger’s mind earlier this year he quickly enlisted Botha to join him on this golfing adventure.
Within days the duo had formulated a solid business plan. Finding the perfect location proved to be a challenge, with the pair viewing around 10 different properties.
They were searching for a specific type of building that would suit their vision, while also considering factors like cost and accessibility.
After a thorough search, Botha and Styger stumbled upon a new development in Firgrove Business Park, which ticked all the boxes. “Everything worked out better than what we had asked for,” Styger said, emphasising their determination and resilience throughout the process. “Our drive to see this venture succeed made the problems and challenges seem small.”
The state-of-the-art golf simulator offers an immersive experience, featuring 500 international golf courses and advanced technology to analyse golfers’ stance, shape and performance.
“It’s golf re-invented,” Styger explained. “You can come here and be comfortable, you don’t have to go searching for balls, and you can play in all weather conditions. It also guides you towards improving your swing and ultimately makes you a better golfer.”
Beyond providing a fun and engaging golfing experience, Botha and Styger aim to create a community and host corporate functions. They are also in the process of obtaining a liquor licence for their 19th hole, adding to the overall experience.
Botha emphasised their commitment to providing value-added services, including general golf knowledge, training resources and equipment analysis.
“The simulator assists new and experienced golfers in improving their game by giving real time feedback,” he said, “but it also a fun enjoyable experience that can cater for events, team-building and even birthday parties. “Our goal is eventually to grow and open more branches around Cape Town.”
In addition to offering individual golfing experiences, Botha and Styger plan to host tournaments and collaborate with local restaurants to provide kitchen services. They are also dedicated to uplifting the community around them.
The official launch of their golf simulator business took place on 22 August, and they are open from 10:00 to 22:00 daily. All bookings and payments can be made online, ensuring a convenient and efficient experience for customers.
With their passion, dedication and innovative approach, Botha and Styger are determined to make their golf simulator business the largest and most successful in the Western Cape. . For more details, visit https://foreandfine.org/.
