Earlier this year Reddam House hosted its Twilight Food Market as a fundraising initiative for the community.
Organised by a group of dedicated parents, the market raised R120 000 for four local charities.
Two cheques of R30 000 were handed to the Helderberg Child Abuse Centre (Patch) and the Disability Action Group Strand (Dags), while R45 000 was used to build and install a jungle gym at Solomon Qatyana Primary School in Asanda Village. The jungle gym is made from recycled plastic so little maintenance is required.
The remaining R15 000 was used to give a much-needed facelift to Twinkle Little Stars Nursery School in Chris Nissen Village. The refurbishment has made a massive difference to the children of the school. A number of books were also purchased from the Helderberg Animal Rescue Team (Hart) for the Chris Nissen Village library.
Reddam House extended its gratitude to those who supported the market and to the Reddam House parent organising committee, comprising Laura Norton (chairperson), Emma Pardoe (treasurer) and Heidi Gouws (community work convenor), who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event.
