Last year Helderberg International School’s Year 3 class looked at global recycling trends and came up with the idea of making compost at school and growing 20 spekboompies as part of the #spekboomchallenge. The succulents combat air pollution and have the ability to capture four to 10 tons of carbon per hectare – plus they are proudly South-African. Last week the class handed out the spekboompies to other classes, who will now be responsible for the cultivation of the plants.Foto:
