The voting process consisted of Grade 10 to 12 learners’ votes cast prior to the event, and the final votes by the judges on the evening. The judging panel comprised of PV mothers and event organiser and teacher Alana Pretorius. The ambassadors of Parel Vallei High School, Mr and Miss PV, were crowned during a glitzy event at the school last Friday (21 May). The event was also live-streamed for it to be witnessed by those who could not attend due to Covid-19 regulations.

The theme of the evening was “The decades that shaped us”, with the 20 contestants taking the audience through time in style! Categories included basic black, stylish day wear, themed wear and evening wear.

The newly crowned Mr and Miss PV, Jenna-Lee Roets and Aden Gardiner, will represent the school at various sport and cultural events, and carry out the school’s Blue Thread ethos to the local community. They have each chosen a charity that they will support as part of their reign.

The school thanked Keith’s Suit Hire in Helderberg Village Walk for sponsoring the boys’ evening wear, and Designer Postbox in Stellenbosch for the girls’ evening wear.

The contestants also expressed their gratitude to organiser Alana Pretorius and the community prefects for a well-planned and successful evening.
