The Winelands Ladies Probus Club is inviting retired and semi-retired women to join the club, which holds a monthly get-together in Somerset West.
Probus is an association for retired and semi-retired persons, who meet at autonomous clubs throughout South Africa and around the world. In the Western Cape, there are 26 operational clubs, made up from men, women and combined groups.
The Winelands Ladies Probus Club, situated in Somerset West, is a warm and friendly meeting place for retired women looking for a chance to socialise, enjoy a tasty meal and listen to a guest speaker. The club meets at Helderberg Retirement Village at noon for 12:30 on the third Wednesday of every month.
Those interested in joining the club are required to attend two lunch meetings in succession. If a decision is made to join, the new member will be required to complete a membership form and pays a joining fee and annual subscription.
“Over the years many lasting friendships have been formed at the club,” a statement from the club read. “We acknowledge every member’s birthday and, where applicable, anniversary by announcing it during our meeting. those who are ill we also communicate with.”
Since the lowering of Covid-19 alert levels and the implementation of more lenient restrictions, the club members have returned to monthly meetings, taking into account the necessary health and safety precautions for the protection of members and speakers. All women attending the luncheons are required to be fully vaccinated.
