I think it’s safe to say we’re heading into the business end of the season, where every point matters for top six play-off aspirations.
Raithby Universals, St George’s and Macassar have this weekend off, but I’m sure they’ll keep a close eye on proceedings in their respective leagues. This week’s fixtures are:
) All Saints vs Primrose (Helderzicht)
Saints come off a two-week break that was perfectly timed with recent weather conditions. They have surprised friend and foe with an outstanding season so far, but will need to remain consistent. Primrose are not at their best, but would want to pick up points on the road. A win for the hosts will keep that top-four fight alive.
) Helderberg vs Goodwood (Goodwood)
Berge are undoubtedly favourites for this fixture. Goodwood are yet to pick up a win and are staring down the barrel of a gun this week again. The visitors have built up a good points difference with recent big scores, but the five log points will be priority.
- Strand vs Albions (Gustrouw)
It’s another home match at fortress Gustrouw for high-flying Strand as they look to maintain a remarkable 40-10 winning average per game this season. Albions are always decent opposition, but I don’t see them taking points from the hosts.
) Sir Lowrians vs Delft (SLP)
Sir Lowrians are well placed to end in the top three of the Northern League, but this week’s fixture is crucial, as a defeat could be disastrous for their end goal. Delft has performed well this season and will have no fear of their opponents. I predict it will be an evenly matched fixture with the Navy Train running out eventual winners.
) Strand United vs Kraaifontein (Abattoir)
United face a Kraaifontein side that doesn’t usually travel well, especially to Strand. The usual factors United should be concerned about against their traditional bigger opponents, will be the set-phases. United could pull a rabbit out of the hat and restart a stuttering season.
