Little Miss South Africa 2022 Tahnyke Otto, from Somerset West, is proud to use her title to promote the common good among her fellow countrymen and women.
The Hendrik Louw Primary School learner won the prestigious crown at a glitzy pageant in Montana, Pretoria, at the beginning of June.
The friendly, warm-hearted and multi-talented 12-year-old was one of 20 quarter-finalists to do battle for the crown – a particularly outstanding achievement as the young entrants not only judged on their deportment, but their community work and philanthropic efforts of the kind Tahnyke has been involved in from age three.
Part of her role as the pageant winner is to represent the title with a wave and smile at promotional functions and charity events.
Tahnyke first participated in Little Miss Petite South Africa 2014 at age 4 and in 2016 was crowned Little Miss Petite Creativity.
But it’s not all about the runway for this young beauty; she is also an avid sportswoman and talented musician, two areas in which she excels.
In 2014, the accomplished drummer, dancer and vocalist competed in the South African Championships of Performing Arts, claiming two gold medals for her sessions behind the drums.
On Saturday 6 August, the talented musician also participated in the final of the Gemini Singing Competition.
What’s more, she will also represent South Africa at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles next year.
