The regular club rugby season in the Western Province is nearly at an end, with some teams are now looking ahead to the play-offs. Let’s have a look at where clubs in the Helderberg ended in their respective leagues and this weekend’s fixtures.

)
Helderberg RFC

Congratulations to Berge on officially becoming Super League B (SLB) champions. Statistics show they had the best attack and defence in the league, thus ending unbeaten. Their next fixture is a semi-final in two weeks time. Well done, Helderberg!

)
St George’s RFC

The Lulu Boys’ last defeat was on match day 2. They finish third in SLB and have slowly progressed into a serious championship side. This week’s break is perfect timing to reboot, as they face Bellville at Gustrouw in a SLB quarter-final match up. St George’s have a bit of a reputation as being knockout rugby specialists and I’m sure that trend will continue.

All Saints vs Collegians – Lentegeur

Saints final league game will not change their well deserved fifth place finish in SLB. The club made history and can be proud of their achievements thus far. Collegians have nothing to really play for, besides pride. This gives All Saints the opportunity to fully prepare for their away quarter-final versus Belhar.

)
Strand RFC

The top position in Super League C (SLC) is up for grabs this weekend between Strand and CPUT. Irrespective, Strand have had a great season and are looking good for their semi-final and goal of advancing to SLB.

)
Raithby Universals RFC

RU had a disappointing season and will be relegated to the Northern League. Their season ended last week and any mathematical chance of surviving ended last Saturday, when other bottom teams picked up points.

)
Strand United vs CPUT – Kraal

United have had a disastrous season by their standards, yet somehow find themselves with a lifeline to survive in SLC. Currently cropping up in 15th and rock-bottom position, they could end 12th if a bonus-point win is achieved against CPUT. Everyone would bet against this happening, but with United at the Kraal, anything is possible.

)
Macassar RFC

The MC Boys’ latest defeat against Blue Jets came as a surprise to most, but doesn’t affect their quarter-final place. They are serious semi-final contenders, but will have to get to their best for their upcoming fixture.

)
Sir Lowrians RFC

The Navy Train’s Top 9 League matches are not going as they had hoped it would. They need to win all their remaining fixtures to get to the top four and have a sniff of promotion to SLC.

)
Gordon’s Bay Pioneers

GBP won last week against unbeaten Peninsula, and find themselves in the top two of the Regional League. Their short-term goal is to secure that quarter-final spot and the chance of more silverware.
