Musical duo Lourens and Esté Raaf, better known as the South African band RAAF (formerly known as Bottomless Coffee Band), will keep guests entertained with live performances throughout the evening.

The Raithby-based non-profit organisation Forward Foundation presents a Music, Wine & Dine fundraiser, which will be hosted at The Salene boutique hotel and olive farm in Stellenbosch on Wednesday 29 March.

Guests can look forward to an array of mouth watering canapés followed by a three-course sit-down dinner from 18:00. The indulgent eats will be enjoyed with pairings of award winning Quoin Rock wines, which are all offered as part of the ticket price. Guests will also have the opportunity to savour samples of wine and six wine tastings alongside winemaker Schalk Opperman, who will provide insight into the make-up of each glass.

Husband-and-wife-, multi-instrumentalist folk-pop duo Lourens and Esté Raaf, better known as the South African band RAAF (formerly known as Bottomless Coffee Band), will keep guests toe tapping throughout the evening.

All proceeds from the event will go towards maintaining and improving the successful programmes offered by Forward Foundation, which was founded by Le Roux Conradie and his brother FC in 2020.

The foundation focuses on a range of skills and physical education from a holistic development perspective, which is directed at previously disadvantaged communities to provide equal opportunities for all ages from pre-primary through to high school and beyond.

It also aims to provide opportunities for rugby players from all walks of life around the Helderberg and greater Western Cape with its vision to “grow beyond”.

“Our programmes are designed to educate, enable, support, and inspire participants,” says Conradie. “We include physical education and sport in many of our projects and the concept of a ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ is our mantra.”

He says the foundation believes physical activity has a profound impact on the development of children as well as on the personal formation of teenagers and young adults. “Our programmes are ensuring we move South Africa forward, faster.”

Conradie expressed being thrilled to have RAAF perform at their first event for the year. As Forward Foundation ambassadors the duo wrote, composed and recorded the “Moving forward faster” song, available on YouTube and Spotify since last year.

“We hope everyone will come out to support our cause while creating some beautiful memories with their friends and family,” says Lourens Raaf. “It is such an exciting time for Esté and me to be part of the Forward Foundation. We truly value the ability music has to touch lives; it is something we do not take for granted. Le Roux and everyone at the Forward Foundation is doing great work, and we are honoured to have our music and performances serve the work the organisation is doing and partner with them on this event.”
