Talented songbirds of two Somerset West primary schools united for the ultimate musical delight, An evening of Choirs, hosted in the Parel Vallei High School hall on Tuesday evening (25 April). The senior and junior choirs of Somerset West Primary and De Hoop Primary School as well as PV’s Dal Cuore and choir joined beloved local musician Jak de Priester on stage in an event presented by Musaic, a Helderberg music school that develops a love for music by creating meaningful participation through group and individual tutoring as well as holiday and team building programmes. The choir evening was one of two that formed part of a festival in which young choral talent was showcased. Tuesday’s concert was preceded by another featuring the choirs of Beaumont and Hendrik Louw Primary School alongside the musician who clinched acclaim with his Sally Williams Nougat debut album. The choirs joined in his performance of the Binnelanders theme song, which he wrote back in 2005 as well as “Reënboog oor Suid-Afrika”. Photos: Jamey Gordon
