Cape Town Aquatics recently held a swimming meet at Curro Somerset West’s state-of-the-art indoor swimming pool.

On Saturday 3 June it was storming when the swimming meet took place, but this didn’t deter family and friends from showing up and supporting the swimmers.

According to Christopher van Niekerk, Federation Liaison Officer of Cape Town Aquatics, the Greydogs Swimming Club hosted the event.

“This was a friendly swimming meet and it was also a chance for swimmers to try to record their best times,” he pointed out.

Some of the other clubs that competed under the banner of Cape Town Aquatics were Aqua Athlete swimming club, Aqua Sharks Academy, Barracudas Aquarama Swimming Club, Glide Along Aquatics, Khayalitsha Aquatics, Retreat Aquatics, Sport Science Institute of SA, Tygerberg Aquatics and Xcel Swim Academy.

Van Niekerk mentioned the event gave swimmers an opportunity to compete with peers from other clubs in the Cape Town region.

“All of the clubs that took part are also registered at Swimming South Africa,” he concluded.
