Strand: Somerset West resident Jenny-Lee Robinson will address members of the University of the Third Age (U3A) Helderberg and any interested visitors on her Camino adventures. The Camino de Santiago (the Way of St James), or simply the Camino, is a network of pilgrim’s ways leading to the shrine of the apostle St James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in north-western Spain, where tradition holds the remains of the apostle are buried. Intrigued by what attracted so many folk to embark on this challenge (or adventure), Robinson, in her mid-50s, decided as a result of losing her job during the pandemic that it was the perfect time to experience the historic pilgrimage for herself. Subsequently, Robinson has led walking tours along sections of the Spanish and Portuguese caminos for the past three years.

Ever thought of doing a Camino, never heard of it or would you simply like to hear about Robinson’s adventures? Come and listen as she walks you through her Camino journeys. Entrance for members is free; visitors pay R20 at the door. For enquiries on the U3A meet, feel free to contact Denise Fourie on 072 211 2273.
