The South Cape Battalion’s Boys Brigade celebrated its 140th anniversary with a sleepover at the Voortrekkers Park Resort in Strand on Saturday (7 October). The Boys Brigade is an international Christian youth organisation that instils Christian values through drilling and fun activities. It was founded by Sir William Alexander Smith on 4 October 1883 as the first uniformed youth organisation in the world. On Saturday, altogether 46 boys between aged eight and 11 years old engaged in sleepover activities, which included games such as Minute to Win It, a community litter pick, some fun on the beach, a quiz, pizza party and toasting marshmallows around the campfire.
