Funds by friends of Rotary Anns to help keep girls in school

The Helderberg Rotary Anns received a monetary donation of R20 000 from their friends in Holland. Maria and Jan Manders have been friends of the Helderberg Rotary Club for some years. Each holiday they have spent in South Africa over the past few years they have been outstanding in collecting money from family, friends and the Innerwheel Club of Tilburg Triborch. Total donations over the years add up to R96 220. This is an amazing effort from one couple. The donation will go towards the local Rotarians’ Project Dignity initiative which aims to keep young girls in school with provision of sanitary products used during menstruation. The Rotarians work with the social workers at schools who select needy girls. The beneficiaries are gifted “Subz” which is a pack valued at R230 per girl and includes two panties and six reusable, washable and very absorbent clip-on sanity towels that can last for years, if well looked after. The Helderberg Rotary Anns are ever so grateful to the Manders for their amazing dedication to help so many needy girls in the basin.
