About the film

#Lovemyselfie follows the story of local TV star Adele Swan who, on discovering her fiancé’s betrayal, embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Offered a chance to reclaim her financial stability by becoming the face of a campaign aboard a luxury cruise, she finds herself entangled in unexpected adventures and rediscovering forgotten connections.

Making history

#Lovemyselfie makes history as the first South African crew to film a movie aboard an MSC Cruise ship. Despite the challenges of working among holidaymakers, the cast and crew persevered, resulting in a professionally crafted film.

“I could not have asked for a better crew and cast,” said Berning. “Despite of long shooting hours, filming between 11 at night and 6 in the morning the team stayed professional and positive, and it really shows on screen. The support from Ross Volk and his amazing team at MSC Cruises made all the difference we are grateful to them for making this possible.”

Managing director of MSC Cruises South Africa Ross Volk commented on the partnership. “We are thrilled to have collaborated with the team behind #Lovemyselfie,” he said. “This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting local talent and storytelling, especially in light of the challenges faced by the film industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The film will be screened at select Nu Metro and Ster-Kinekor cinemas across the country, including Somerset Mall. Tickets will be available through normal cinema channels.
