Somerset West police, in conjunction with Metro police, orchestrated a successful joint operation resulting in the apprehension of a 40-year-old resident of Victoria Park, Somerset West. Jantjies said Law Enforcement officers executed a search warrant following intelligence received regarding a shop allegedly peddling “drug sweets”. Jantjies confirmed that a dog from the K9 unit sniffed out these illicit items that were concealed within a plastic container. The “drug sweets” were seized by police who also arrested the suspect. Jantjies confirmed that the contents confiscated will undergo comprehensive analysis at a laboratory, and as of yet, the street value of these suspected narcotics remain uncalculated. The suspect made his first court appearance at the Somerset West Magistrates’ Court on a charge of possession of drugs on Monday (22 April). The court outcome was still unknown at the time of going to print on Tuesday morning. Acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel JP du Toit, commended the team for their exceptional arrest.
