Rusthof Secondary School’s representative council of learners (RCL) and prefects embarked on a leadership camp on Saturday (11 May), which saw the group roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty for a cleaner shoreline. The learners were aided by Widaad Hendricks (deputy principal and teacher liaison officer), facilitator Brendyn Alloys (representative of the community organisation Amakhaya) and Lisa Starr (founder of the Helderberg Ocean Awareness Movement) and had some good clean fun, ridding the Marine Protected Area at Strand Beach of litter detrimental to the environment.

Learners in clean-up action proved that baggin’ it can be cool!

Brendyn Alloys awarded every avid beach-clean participant a certificate of attendance.
