Man sustains fatal injuries in Broadlands Rd hit-and-run

A male pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Broadlands Road, near Casablanca, Strand, early on Monday morning, and sustained fatal head injuries. The vehicle apparently sped away afterwards. According to Edward Bosch, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town’s fire and rescue service, one fire engine attended to the scene at 06:24, and one male was found with multiple-trauma injuries. “Metro and ER24 ambulances and a rescue vehicle attended to the scene, and paramedics assisted with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR),” he said. “Paramedics terminated CPR efforts at 08:08, the patient certified deceased.” Strand police confirmed a case of culpable homicide was opened and the exact details of the accident were being investigated.
