The Gordon’s Bay police Spiritual Crime Prevention Group marked World Cancer Day (4 February) with pamphlets and prayers at the local beach last Wednesday.
Officers and volunteers started the event with a prayer and lit candles for those who have lost their lives to cancer at the police station.
Cancer survivor Olivia Ford, one of the group’s members, then shared her story with the group and explained the exercise that followed.
The team spent the rest of the day at Gordon’s Bay Beach, where they distributed pamphlets in the hopes of helping visitors understand the disease and its impact.
