Christmas came early for 50 elderly residents in Lourensia Park, Somerset West, when SA Society of Hope hosted a festive lunch on Friday 5 December. The event, held at 6 Klasie Johannes Street, was filled with laughter, smiles and Christmas cheer as those attending it enjoyed a hearty lunch, dessert and Christmas cake. Sandy Pekeur-Sandy, founder of SA Society of Hope, said the Christmas lunch formed part of the non-profit organisation’s monthly programme for its seniors’ club, launched earlier this year. Beyond the festive meal, residents received vegetables for Christmas, a Rise Against Hunger package and a Christmas box from Nosh for Josh. The initiative reflected the SA Society of Hope’s ongoing commitment to supporting elderly members of the Somerset West community.
