As winter approaches, the City of Cape Town’s Library and Information Services are rolling out exciting holiday programmes for patrons across various communities, aiming to keep children and families engaged with a variety of educational and entertaining activities.
These initiatives are set for late June and early July. Among these scheduled events are activities at three libraries in the Helderberg basin.
The Sir Lowry’s Pass Library, located in Brinkhuis Street, is set to host a series of engaging events:
โข Tuesday 1 July, from 10:00 to 11:00: Winter stories and make an Olaf craft;
โข Wednesday 2 July, 10:00 to 11:00: Winter stories and games; and
โข Thursday 3 July, 10:00 to 11:00: Movie day and popcorn.
Meanwhile, Strand Library has a diverse programme lined up at the Mills Street facility throughout next month:
โข Monday 7 July, 10:00 to 11:00: Read to Rise puppet show;
โข Tuesday 8 July, from 10:00 to 11:00: Stories and craft (butterflies);
โข Wednesday 9 July, 10:00 to 11:00: Life coaching session for children;
โข Thursday 10 July, 10:00 to 11:00: Stories and craft; and
โข Friday 11 July, 10:00 to 11:00: Coding and robotics.
The Gordon’s Bay Library, located at 6 Watt Street, also has a packed schedule of events for youths the upcoming winter school holidays:
โข Saturday 28 June, 10:00 to 12:00: Art class โ Lilo and Stitch;
โข Tuesday, 1 July, from 11:00 to 12:00: Science Squad โ let’s make a rainbow;
โข Wednesday 2 July, from 10:30 to 12:00: Minecrafters โ bingo create and play;
โข Tuesday 8 July, from 11:00 to 12:00: Make Lilo and Stitch paper characters;
โข Wednesday 9 July, from 11:00 to 12:00: Making puppets โ Star Wars edition;
โข Thursday 10 July, from 11:00 to 12:00: Science Squad โ magnetism magic;
โข Saturday 12 July, from 10:30 to 12:00: Minecrafters โ make a 3D creeper or Alex;
