Participants received their certifications, a testament to their dedication towards the Grassroots Site Learning Programme.

The Grassroots Educare Trust, a cornerstone in early childhood development (ECD) since 1968, proudly announced the certification of 41 participants in its 20-day Site Learning Programme.

This marked yet another milestone in the trust’s 53 years of empowering communities to provide quality ECD to very young children.

The intensive training, held from March to May reached communities across the Metro East region, including Lwandle, Nomzamo, Zola, Gordon’s Bay, and Eerste River. The programme, facilitated by Tembisa Tshangana and Shihaam Francis, covered crucial modules on child development, learning through play and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), with a view to enhance teaching quality and providing children with superior stimulation.

Since its registration in 1972, Grassroots Educare Trust has evolved from supporting underfunded ECD projects to offering fully accredited training, enabling practitioners to gain nationally recognised qualifications.

The Site Learning Programme focused on improving the quality of learning, ensuring child stimulation, including children with barriers to learning, and fostering full potential.

The 41 participants received their certifications, a testament to their dedication, on Thursday 29 May. Tshangana and Francis spoke of the empowerment experienced in this growth and development support of ECD practitioners, bringing quality learning to children. They agreed a programme equipping people to deliver high-quality ECD services has nation-building significance.
