Football legend David Beckham (51) will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 12 June, organisers announced on Tuesday.
The ceremony will take place just hours before the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, which is being jointly hosted by Mexico, Canada and the US.
Actor Tom Cruise and Beckham’s wife, fashion designer Victoria Beckham, will attend the unveiling on Hollywood’s famous boulevard.
Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Beckham’s recognition in the Sports Entertainment category comes at a fitting moment as the United States prepares to host the World Cup.
“Beckham’s role in elevating soccer’s profile in America and his lasting influence on sports, entertainment and global culture make this honour especially meaningful,” Martinez said.
The former England captain enjoyed a distinguished club career at Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain before retiring in 2013.
He later became co-owner of Inter Miami CF, which signed Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and won the Major League Soccer Cup Championship last year.
Beckham was knighted by King Charles III last year and co-founded content production company Studio 99 in 2019.
