In an article published in Novanews.co.za on 26 February 2026, it was reported that Here We Flow products were among sanitary products identified in a University of the Free State study about harmful chemicals in sanitary products.
It has come to light that HWF products are currently not available in the South African market.
Here We Flow has clarified the following:
HWF products have not been sold, stocked or retailed anywhere in South Africa since 2021, when the company ceased supplying the South African market following the termination of its distributor arrangements. Any residual stock was subsequently destroyed.
The South African National Consumer Commission (NCC) has confirmed, following its own enquiries including retailer visits, that HWF products are not currently stocked or retailed anywhere in South Africa.
The University of the Free State study referenced in the original article did not identify or test HWF products. No brands were named in the published findings, and there is no evidence that HWF products formed part of the sample set.
The information published by Novanews was based on a media statement issued by the South African National Consumer Commission. However, HWF’s inclusion appears to have been based on incorrect assumptions regarding market presence.
Novanews apologises for any misunderstanding caused by the article and the misleading impression that HWF products were implicated in the study or are currently present in the South African market.
