Creative talent from across South Africa are yet again showcasing their unique craft at this year’s KAMERS/Makers in the Winelands, which kicked off this week at Allée Bleue Wine Estate in Franschhoek.

The theme for 2026 is A Kaleidoscope of Making. More than 170 leading crafters showcase their work at this annual event, while offering a curated celebration of design, creativity and local enterprise. From shoes, quilts, jewelry to artisanal spices there is something for everyone.

What makes KAMERS/Makers so unique is the fact that every product that is showcased at the event is made proudly South African. The initiative says they are much more than just a marketplace for small businesses and emerging brands.

“From the beginning KAMERS/Makers has been rooted in care and community. In a retail landscape often challenging – especially for women entrepreneurs – we’ve built a nurturing environment founded on family, support and shared success.”

Every year six KAMERS/Makers shows take place across South Africa — the Winelands, Sandton and Pretoria. Two shows takes place at each venue twice a year, which is one in the beginning of the year and one show late in the year.

For an event as big as KAMERS/Makers it is almost impossible to think that it all started in a house in Stellenbosch in 2003. Back then it was known as Kamers vol Geskenke (Rooms full of gifts) and over the course of 23 years it has grown so much that the event now rakes in over R100 million for the South African creative economy.

The Winelands show will be up and running until Sunday (8 March) from 09:00 to 17:00.

Visit the event’s website at kamers.co.za for a list of all the crafters, to buy tickets for the shows and for dates for upcoming KAMERS/Makers shows this year.
