Site B residents in Khayelitsha are calling for the deployment of law enforcement officers following a shooting in the area on Tuesday morning, 6 October.

This follows a separate shooting in which two men were shot and killed in Masikhanye by unknown suspects.

A community member, who gave her name as Phiwe, described the incident as terrible.

“There was no way they could have survived — their bodies were riddled with bullets. They died on the scene. Judging by the time the incident occurred, the culprits planned the attack,” said Phiwe.

When City Vision asked Phiwe about the deceased and what they were doing, she refused to comment. Instead, she said they were “hustling like anybody else in the community”.

Police confirm double murder

“Officers were called to the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. Both victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made,” said Twigg.
