Residents and businesses are advised of a planned building demolition that will take place in the Montague Gardens Industrial area tomorrow (12 April).

The controlled explosion is scheduled between 10:15 and 10:30.

The City of Cape Town said, given the location of the demolition, there are unlikely to be direct impacts on residential areas. However, the public might hear a loud bang once the controlled explosion occurs.

According to the City, all relevant services will be on the scene to ensure public safety measures are in place during and after the event.

Montague Drive, between Freedom Way (Drill Avenue) and Racecourse Road (Bolt Avenue), will be closed to traffic during this time.

The City said the closure will be implemented as close as possible to the time of the blast and will be reopened as soon as the area has been declared safe.

Officers will redirect traffic. However, the public are cautioned to steer clear of the area until the operation has concluded.
