PRETORIA – A devastating incident has shaken the Centurion community after a 44-year-old father allegedly took the life of his 8-year-old daughter before ending his own life at their Amberfield home.

Warren Green and his daughter Amé Green were found dead by police on Friday evening at approximately 21:15 at their home in Amberfield, Centurion. According to Captain Johan van Dyk, police spokesperson, paramedics pronounced both victims dead at the scene.

A firearm discovered at the location has led investigators to suspect a murder-suicide scenario. The South African Police Service has opened both a murder case and an inquest.

Eight-year-old Amé was a Grade 2 learner at Rooihuiskraal Primary School, where she was much loved by both her classmates and teachers. Principal Carien Fölscher described the young girl as “a beautiful child loved by her peers and teachers,” highlighting the profound impact her loss has had on the school community.

The tragic news has sent shockwaves throughout the local community, with countless residents expressing their grief and condolences across social media platforms. The overwhelming response demonstrates the far-reaching impact of this heartbreaking incident.

Rooihuiskraal Primary School has prioritised supporting those affected by offering psychological counseling services to students, parents, and staff members as they process this devastating loss.

“We encourage parents to talk to their children about their feelings and to let us know if your child requires additional support. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. May we cherish every memory of Amé and Warren with reverence. With sincere sympathy,” the school said in a letter to parents.
