JOHANNESBURG – The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has officially launched the call for nominations for the prestigious 18th Annual South African Sport Awards, celebrating the nation’s outstanding sporting achievements.

Under the theme “A Nation that works for all,” this year’s awards aim to recognize and honor individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to South African sport during the 2024 calendar year.

The Department invites a wide range of stakeholders to submit nominations, including Sport Federations, Provincial Sport Departments, Professional Leagues, Clubs or Unions, Sports for Social Change Network, Schools’ Sport Code Structures, media companies, and all recognized Sports and Recreation bodies.

“These awards represent our commitment to acknowledging excellence in South African sport at all levels,” a Department spokesperson said. “From elite athletes to dedicated administrators and journalists who cover sporting events, we want to celebrate those who continue to raise our flag high on both local and international platforms.”

To be eligible for consideration, nominees must have demonstrated exceptional performance or contribution to South African sport between 1 January 2024, and 31 December 2024.

The nomination process is straightforward, with all submissions to be made through the Department’s official website. Interested parties can access the nomination form directly at: https://nssc.dsac.gov.za/nssc/rsvp/nomination/nomination-form.php

All nominations must be received by midnight on 20 June.

The South African Sport Awards have become a highlight on the nation’s sporting calendar, showcasing the depth of talent and dedication within the country’s sporting community.

“Let’s honor the individuals and teams who continue to raise the South African flag through sport,” the Department urged. “Make sure your voice is heard—submit your nomination before the deadline.”
