Cape Town International Airport processed more than one million two-way passengers during March, according to the latest Air Access report.
The airport handled a total of 1 068 000 passengers, marking significant growth during what is traditionally considered the tail end of the peak tourism season. The figures suggest an extension of the provincial summer season, providing a sustained boost to local hospitality and service sectors.
The international terminal processed over 331 000 passengers, representing a 3% year-on-year increase, whilst the domestic terminal saw 9% growth with more than 737 000 passengers.
The growth occurred despite significant geopolitical disruptions in the Gulf region which temporarily affected connectivity. Major carriers have since returned to capacity, with Emirates offering 10 weekly flights and Qatar Airways scaling up to 11 by mid-June.

Wesgro’s Air Access team continues to focus on destination marketing and courting new routes to expand existing capacity. The strategic focus on connectivity aims to position the Western Cape as a year-round destination and maintain the province’s competitiveness in global travel and trade.
The sustained passenger numbers indicate growing confidence in the Western Cape as a premier destination, with implications for continued investment and tourism flow into regional economies.
