Centlec, the electricity supplier for the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, calls on the public, stakeholders and all other interested parties to submit comments and representations on the proposed electricity tariffs for the 2026-’27 financial year.

For the upcoming fiscal year, the entity is proposing a 9,9% increase.

Centlec stated that the proposed increase had been informed by the Cost of Supply study findings; the need to continue the phased path towards full cost-effectiveness; and ultimately also the alignment with Eskom’s approved bulk purchase increase of 9,04% for the period in question.

Submissions must be in writing and received by no later than Tuesday 14 April, which has been set as the closing date.

The proposed tariff adjustments form part of the municipality’s annual budgeting process and are aimed at ensuring the continued provision of reliable, sustainable and cost-effective electricity services.

If approved, the tariffs will be implemented on 1 July.

Centlec’s proposed tariff is available on its website – under the tariffs tab on centlec.co.za – and on all the entity’s official social media platforms.

The municipality encourages all residents and stakeholders to participate in this important process to ensure that community needs and concerns are considered in the final tariff determination.

Comments and representations can be emailed to tariffcomments@centlec.co.za or hand-delivered at the following municipal premises:

■ 30 Rhodes Avenue, Oranjesig, metering section;
