BLOEMFONTEIN – The police in Bloemfontein are appealing for public assistance to trace student nurse Karabo Semoli (24). Karabo went missing under bizarre circumstances, apparently while in Bloemfontein. It has been 17 days since her disappearance on Monday 13 July. There is no sign of her, amid ongoing search.
Sgt Mahlomola Kareli, spokesperson for the provincial police, said that Karabo disappeared a day after returning from Botshabelo. She had visited her parents there. She reportedly arrived at the nurses’ home where she resides at approximately 16:00 on Sunday 12 July.
Kareli said Karabo’s mother reported that Karabo called her. She indicated that she was going to the Universitas Academic Hospital. This was where she had been doing her practical work on the day she disappeared.
“All Karabo’s clothes, as well as her personal belongings, were found intact at the nurses’ home. Investigative follow-ups were conducted at all known locations she frequently visits, with no success to date. Subsequent attempts by her mother to reach her via messages have been unsuccessful,” said Kareli.
Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the Free State’s Department of Health, confirmed that Karabo was a second-year student.
