Nippers of the Bloemfontein Lifesaving Club competed in the Lifesaving Championships from 30 March to 1 April at the Newton Park Swimming Pool in Gqeberha.
The local swimmers came sixth among the 14 participating clubs.

All six swam personal best times.
The results were:
- Mari Wessels (Laerskool Fichardtpark), girls U9 – gold in 100m Obstacle, 100m Torpedo Rescue (new South Africa record), 50m Manikin Carry (new South African record that stood 10 years) and 100m Manikin Carry. She was victrix ludorum for best U9 swimmer;
- Lené Wessels (Laerskool Fichardtpark) girls U11 – bronze in 50m Manikin Carry and 100m Obstacle, and overall third in the U11 group;
- Keegan Goodes (Grey College Primary) Boys U12 – bronze in 100m Torpedo Rescue;
- Gehan Viviers (Laerskool Universitas) Boys U12 – silver in 100m Manikin Resue;
- Pieter Viviers (Grey College) Boys U14 – bronze in the 100m Obstacle, 100m Manikin Carry, 100m Rescue Medley, 100m Super Nipper, and 50m Manikin Carry. He came third overall in the U14 group.
