BLOEMFONTEIN – Two people were killed, and one survived a collision involving a Toyota bakkie and a Hyundai i10 on the Kenneth Kaunda Road, north of Bloemfontein, on Monday 4 May.

The accident occurred during heavy rainfall. What caused the collision between the two vehicles remains unclear.

According to Pieter du Plessis of VR MED, the deceased were two occupants who were travelling in the Hyundai i10. He confirmed that the driver of the Toyota bakkie sustained minor injuries and was transported by ER24 to hospital for treatment.

“The two patients in the Hyundai i10 were declared dead on the scene,” said Du Plessis.

Emergency services that attended the scene included VR MED, ER24, Life EMS, Mangaung Fire and Rescue, and officials of the traffic department.
