South African motorists are braving the largest fuel price increases in the country’s history, with the price of petrol rising by R3,06 per litre on Wednesday 1 April. The diesel price went up by more than R7,00 per litre.
The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced the adjustments on Tuesday, following severe market disruptions caused by the America-Iran conflict. The National Treasury has decided to implement a temporary fuel levy reduction of R3,00 per litre from 1 April to 5 May, to mitigate the impact on consumers.
