BLOEMFONTEIN – The N1 between Kroonvaal Plaza and Kroonvaal Engen Garages are closed after a collision involving two heavy motor vehicles and two light motor vehicles.
One trucks caught fire in the accident.
Sipho Towa, Chairperson of the Free State Road Incident Management System (RIMS) said there was two fatalities, one person is critical and three were lightly injured in the accident.
Towa says fire services are now battling the blaze and emergency services and law enforcement are on the scene.
Drivers using this route today, need to take alternative routes until the accident scene is cleared. From Kroonstad, take the R72 to Vredefort and Parys and then the R59 to the N1.
From Gauteng, take the Kroonvaal offramp to the R59 Parys an then the R72 to Vredefort and Kroonstad and back to the N1.
