Blitzboks to play Argentina
The Blitzboks will play New Zealand in the third-fourth play-off in Singapore.

A dominant 33-12 victory over Great Britain in their second Pool A match of the Singapore leg of the HSBS SVNS tournament on Saturday morning (31 January), saw the Blitzboks one step closer to the play-offs of the competition.

Whether they will end at the top of the pool, though, will be determined after the South Africans’ final pool match against Fiji at 13:46 on Saturday. Both teams have won their first two pool matches at the Singapore National Stadium.

Coach Philip Snyman’s side, who are currently in first place on the HSBC SVNS 2025-’26 series standings with 32 points, will be looking to stamp their authority on the Pacific Islanders, who hold second place on the standings with the same points tally.

In their outing against the men from the north, the Blitzboks outscored the Team Great Britain by five tries to two afterholding a narrow 14-12 lead at half-time. SA’s five-pointers were scored by Donavan Don, Tristan Leyds, Shilton van Wyk, Ryan Oosthuizen and Sebastiaan Jobb, while Ricardo Duarttee (2) and Leyds slotted two conversions.

The South Africans’ success over the men from Great Britain was the Blitsboks’ second win of the day, having opened their competition with a hard-fought 21-14 win over Spain in their first pool match of the tournament early on Saturday morning.
